Bimbo Bakeries /system/images/0000/0394/grupobimbo_1.jpg

About

Bimbo Bakeries is the parent company of US companies such as Oroweat, Thomas English Muffins and Boboli.

Challenge

Bimbo Bakeries had 1,500 users using Lotus for their e-mail system and over 13,000 other end users on various versions of Microsoft Exchange. With employees needing to be able to share calendars and agendas, it was important to save IT dollars and get everyone on a single system.

Solution

ITSLN deployed Exchange and migrated the users of Lotus onto the new Exchange server, then migrated the mailboxes of the remaining end users, in addition to their calendars. Web conference capabilities, instant messaging, and Voice over Internet Protocol were implemented to improve employee communications across the corporation and allow for reduced overall IT expenditures in the future.

Supreme Court of Mexico

About

The Supreme Court of Mexico is the highest federal court in Mexico.

Challenge

The Supreme Court of Mexico employs over 3,000 people dispersed across the country, and each desktop and mobile computer was on a different operating system, causing difficulties with document sharing, licensing issues, and too many calls to the help desk.

Solution

ITSLN planned to migrate 2,000 computers to Windows Vista, but was able to migrate an additional 11.2% within the same timescale and budget at the same time with minimal negative impact to the end users. The result was updated hardware and software inventory, license updates to avoid overpaying for unused licenses, and a reduction in help desk calls. In addition, the Court now enjoys reduced risk by providing standard security measures across their computers.

Sagarpa

About

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, is a unit of the Federal Executive, which has among its objectives to foster the pursuit of a policy of support that can help produce better, better utilize the comparative advantages of the Mexican agricultural sector, integrating the activities of the rural environment productive chains from the rest of the economy, and encourage collaboration of producer organizations with programs and projects themselves, as well as the goals and objectives for the agricultural sector, the National Plan of Development.

Challenge

With little control over desktop administration and even less control over patch management, monitoring the servers and inventory across the organization had become impossibly cumbersome. SAGARPA needed to have control over the desktops and servers across the organization in order to automatically deploy applications and programs while ensuring mission-critical servers remained fully operational.

Solution “System Center”

ITSLN implemented a system center to provide centralized access to the infrastructure resources and designed an architecture to monitor and automatically alert server operators about the state of critical applications. SAGARPA was able to reduce response times by over 30%. Plus, issues around patch deployment, hardware and software inventory, and server monitoring are now automatically handled, which greatly improved service to end users.

Semarnat

About

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is a federal government agency which main purpose is to promote the protection, restoration and conservation of ecosystems and natural resources.

Challenge

With over 6,000 employees dispersed across more than 50 locations, Semarnat desperately needed to increase employee communication while ensuring productivity and energy savings.

Solution

The teams of ITSLN performed a migration of Semarnat's messaging platform, along with the physical migration of their servers and implemented Microsoft Office Communications Server R2 as their primary instant messaging platform. Employees now have full access through their PSTN and instant messaging to improve communications across the corporation, plus Semarnat now enjoys reduced IT support costs and energy savings.
